Amber Heard has penned an open letter, published in the December issue of Porter magazine, about domestic violence.
The actress addresses the letter to “my silent sisters everywhere” and discusses being open about abuse and female empowerment with reference to her own experience.
“You are not alone. You may have suffered alone behind closed doors, but you are not alone. You need to know that.
“I want to remind you of your strength, a strength that has been multiplied by the number of women who stand silently behind you—a truth that allowed me to break down the doors I once found myself behind.”
TMZ reported that while Amber’s letter aims to raise awareness, she could get herself in trouble with Johnny Depp’s lawyers.
Because Amber alludes to personal experience she could be violating a confidentiality clause in her divorce settlement that states she is not allowed to talk about Johnny.
She may not mention him by name, however there are certain things she writes that suggest she was victimised by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.
If Johnny’s lawyers think she has violated the agreement, Amber won’t receive the $7m that the 53-year-old actor agreed to pay her in their divorce settlement.
