Iyanya Made the Wrong Decision to Leave Triple MG

Former Triple MG artiste, Baci, may have left the record label several months back with speculations that he was not signed to the label but he has moved on with his career but he’s still got love for the label.

The singer in a recent interview with PlanetTV, about Iyanya’s exist from the record label, in his opinion was a wrong move being a company head.

He stated that being a company head, he shouldn’t have done that since he is not opening his own record label rather going back to work for someone.

In his words, “For me being a company head because Iyanya and Ubi Franklin were company head of Triple MG, I don’t think he made the right decision to move on if he is not opening a new record label, such decision was wrong sincerely.”

After waiting hours for the results of the American elections, many people went to sleep, hoping that they will wake up and hear a different result. Those who though they were having a nightmare, woke-up and the dream was still a reality. If you are in the Eastern part of the United States, you knew those in the West, such as California, had just finished elections as you went to sleep based on the three hour difference. Also, the global markets, opened with a crash.

During the Republican Party primaries, Donald J. Trump’s sixteen opponents did not give him a chance to win. He disappointed their expectations and ran an unconventional campaign.

Again, the pollsters did not give him a chance of winning the presidential elections on November 8, 2016. He won without support from ex-Presidents and former Presidential candidates of his own party. It should be mentioned that Trump had never been considered a Republican, but “converted” to run for President under the Republican banner. Nonetheless, the former star of the reality-TV show The Apprentice won. There are many lessons from the American elections, but I will only mention a few here.

Do not believe the Polls.
For years, pollsters have dominated the American election systems. This time they got it wrong. The polls predicted that former Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton will win and become the 45th President of the United States. Either they got the analysis wrong, or those they surveyed lied. It is probably true that some people who claimed they would not vote for Trump because it was not socially desirable, actually lied and voted for him. This group did not want to be seen as supporting an alleged bigot or someone that was painted by incumbent President Barack Obama (and others) as “uniquely unqualified.”

Political-correctness has been rubbished.
Donald Trump commented that even if he shot someone, he will not lose any supporters. He mocked women, minorities, war veterans, people with disabilities and it did not seem to hurt him. It remains to be seen how America will heal itself. He talked about building a war, without giving details of how he would make Mexico pay for it. Even arrogantly claiming to “know more about ISIS than the Generals”, did not hurt him. He boldly told African-Americans to vote for him because they don’t have anything to lose. Apparently, some people liked his rash candidness. The belief that if you are running for office, you should watch what you say, no longer holds water.

The magic of the media.
Donald Trump, a former reality show star with a star on Hollywood, used his mastery of the media to his great advantage. He knew that outlandish statements will get attention. Even, sex-related pseudo scandals could help. He used fear politics through the media, to his advantage. Trump’s divisive tactics worked. He was always in the news, much to chagrin of his opponents. He consistently attacked his opponents and anyone against him. He was taken as a joke by some people, but the joke is now on them. Trump is a master at the branding and name calling. His use of phrases like “Crooked Hillary” stuck with raucous responses of “Lock Her UP” from his supporters. It shows what the Nazi propagandists believed that if you tell a lie long enough, people will believe it. Also, “Making American Great Again” resounded with non-urban white America, even though the phrase was coined by Ronald Regan over thirty years ago. By contrast, Hillary’s “Stronger together” was a week slogan for many.

When the people are frustrated, they will choose whomever.

Several Americans, especially the uneducated whites, have been frustrated with the establishment and the economy. They claimed the foreigners (illegal aliens) were taking away their jobs. It did not matter that Donald Trump had allegedly used the same illegal aliens in his various business. The concern was legitimate to the extent that even a Bachelor’s degree, could no longer guarantee a job with livable and living wage. It appears as though those in Washington were out of touch with the plights of some Americans and just like Brexit, the people, gave the red card to establishment and said no to the status quo.

Money makes a difference in politics.
Donald Trump came into prominence because of his supposed success as a Real Estate mogul, propelled by the millions he inherited from his father. Although he lost almost a billion dollars twenty years ago, his actual net worth is not known because he refused to release his tax returns. He poured millions of his own money into his election campaign. One thing that you can admire about Mr. Trump is that he knows how to use the system to his advantage, whether filing for bankruptcies or avoiding taxes. The irony is that the average person on the street that supported Trump, will never make the kind of money he has made and has probably paid more taxes that Donald Trump in the past ten years. The amazing fact is that Hillary Clinton outspent Trump almost 5-1 in campaign spending.

The power of the vote
I was privileged to work as an Election Judge in the main election, the early voting and the primaries. There was an unprecedented turnout. Standing for over thirteen hours was quite interesting when you are inundated with people of different personalities. Although, the minorities did not turn out as they did for the 2008 and 2012 elections featuring Barack Obama, the Hispanics came out in record numbers and were expected to turn things around in Battleground states like Florida. However, the turnout of rural white voters and dissatisfied minorities countered the Hispanic surge. Also, the millennial did not come out as much as they did in the last two Presidential elections because neither of the candidates inspired them. It could also be that the young voters felt they were voting for either a grandmother or grandfather that was not in touch with burning issues for young America such as school loans and affordable college tuition.

The influence of foreign issues on American politics

The Russians have been held liable for the hacking of emails that cast a very negative shadow on Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Also, the ties of Trump and his allies to Russian President Vladimir Putin, is yet to be established. Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State has been over-shadowed by the killing of the Americans in Benghazi. It did not matter that she was involved in the killing of the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks on America, Osama Bin Laden. The Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement and NAFTA (that Bill Clinton signed into law, but negotiated by George Bush) featured prominently in the debate. Who will bring back American jobs that have been “shipped” overseas? Syria, ISIS, and Boko Haram in Nigeria were mentioned on the campaign trails. Also, the deal with Iran did not go well with many Americans. In other words, trade and security were major issues.

Whether or not his enemies and pundits like it, 70-year old Donald John Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2017, with a foreign-born first lady and complete control of Congress (House of Representatives & Senate).

Hillary Clinton cried uncontrollably after loss, blames Comey and Obama for loss

Hillary Clinton “couldn’t stop crying” once she learned of her loss to Donald Trump on Tuesday, best-selling conservative author Ed Klein told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

“About 6:30 this morning she called an old friend,” he began on “The Steve Malzberg Show” in an interview. “She was crying, inconsolably.

“She couldn’t stop crying.
“Her friend said — her female friend from way, way, back — said that it was even hard to understand what she was saying, she was crying so hard.

“This is Hillary we’re talking about,” Klein said.

“Eventually,” he continued, “her friend said she could make out that she was blaming James Comey, the director of the FBI, for her loss — and this I don’t understand exactly — and the president of the United States for not doing enough.”

Klein said his source then asked further about President Barack Obama.

“She said: ‘Well, she felt, Hillary felt, that the president could have stopped Comey a long time ago, because that’s what [former President] Bill [Clinton] said.” 

Clinton may still win popular vote, despite losing the election

Despite losing Tuesday’s presidential election, Hillary Clinton appears to be on pace to win the popular vote, an ironic twist in an election in which her opponent repeatedly said the system was rigged against him.

Just two days before Election Day, Republican businessman Donald Trump tweeted: “The Electoral College is a disaster for a democracy.”

As it turns out, without the Electoral College, Trump probably wouldn’t be the president-elect.

A day after Election Day, Clinton held a narrow lead in the popular vote, according to unofficial results tallied by The Associated Press. With nearly 125 million votes counted, Clinton had 47.7 percent of the vote and Trump had 47.5 percent.

That’s a lead of about 236,000 votes.
Many states count votes after Election Day, so Clinton isn’t guaranteed to keep her lead. However, most of the outstanding votes appear to be in Democratic-leaning states, making it very likely she will become the second Democratic candidate for president this century to win the popular vote but lose the presidency.

The biggest chunk of uncounted votes is in California. Washington State, New York, Oregon and Maryland also have large numbers of uncounted votes. Clinton won all those states, and if the trends continue, she will pad her lead by more than 1 million votes.

There are also votes to be counted in Arizona and Alaska, two Republican-leaning states. But they are far outnumbered by uncounted votes in Democratic states.

Under the Electoral College system, each state gets one vote for each member of Congress representing the state. California has the most, with 55. Seven states have only three. The District of Columbia has three, even though the nation’s capital has no vote in Congress.

It takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency. Trump’s total stands at 279, with races in Michigan, New Hampshire and Arizona too close to call.

There have been occasional calls to scrap the Electoral College, with no success. The latest push came after the 2000 presidential election, in which Democrat Al Gore lost to Republican George W. Bush, despite winning the popular vote.

Any calls to scrap the Electoral College aren’t likely to go anywhere this time, either, with Republicans controlling both the House and Senate.

Sen. Tim Kaine, the Democratic candidate for vice president, praised Clinton on Wednesday for winning the popular vote.

But when Clinton made her concession speech, she didn’t mention it. 

TRUMP: THE UNSEEN UPSET

After the unexpected win of George Walker Bush Jr in 2000 backed by the Supreme Court which decided it in his favour, Film maker Michael Moore became one of his most virulent critics. He wrote a best seller, ‘Stupid White Men’ and followed up with a box office hit, ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ which unmasked the September 11 terrorist attacks. He predicted Donald Trump’s electoral victory some months ago in his blog. He started with these words ‘Friends:I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I gave it to you straight last summer when I told you that Donald Trump would be the Republican nominee for president. And now I have even more awful, depressing news for you: Donald J. Trump is going to win in November. This wretched, ignorant, dangerous part-time clown and full time sociopath is going to be our next president. President Trump. Go ahead and say the words, ‘cause you’ll be saying them for the next four years: “PRESIDENT TRUMP.”

I wasn’t dismissive of his prediction and remembered a similar one made by a pundit on the impossibility of Obama winning the race in 2008 and even went on to write a best seller on reasons why the Kenyan-American wouldn’t end up in the White House. Would the ‘clairvoyant’ Moore be proved wrong? It is a well-known fact that politics throws up an opportunity for all sorts of ‘seers’, ‘prophets’ etc to emerge. Our own ‘Prophet’ Temitope Balogun Joshua of the Synagogue of All Nations predicted the emergence of the first female President of the United States, a subtle allusion to Hillary Clinton. I wasn’t personally swayed by any of the ‘Prophets’ but was anxious as to the outcome of November 8.

Alas Moore was proved right as Donald Trump went on to make history as the first two time divorcee, first alumnus of the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania, oldest man, first never to have previously held political office save for George Washington to be elected President as the 45th person to hold the world’s most powerful office.

The media and the polls really missed this as they all gave ‘victory’ to Hillary Clinton. She led the national polls and most of the battleground states with the establishment whittling down the effects of the email scandal.

Trump on the other hand was underrated from day one with some pundits pointing to his ‘interest’ in the race as far back as in 1988 and opined that he would lose steam and drop out. The New York billionaire didn’t even help matters as he blasted Mexican immigrants for being rapists and lamented that their next door neighbours were exporting their worst citizens. He vowed that he would build a great wall and the funding for it would come from Mexico’s purse. He expressed concern at the over eleven million illegal immigrants in the country and pledged to massively deport them. Muslims were not spared as he linked the acts of terrorism on the home soil to them and ranted that he would place an embargo on their influx. He didn’t spare Nigerians and infamously declared that ‘If I win, you leave.’ He also called President Muhammadu Buhari an insensible man. The video of his groping women didn’t help matters either. In a gender sensitive nation, it portrayed him as a misogynist with many heavyweights in the GOP establishment most notably the Bush political family distancing themselves from him and vowing to cast their vote for Hillary Clinton. Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka also declared his intention to shred his green card if the enfant terrible was elected. Trump even declared that the election had already been rigged and swore not to accept the eventual outcome if it wasn’t in his favour. It didn’t also help that Trump refused to release his tax returns and a Bloomberg report showed that he was worth far less than his much touted $10 billion with the former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg calling him a con man. He also showed no apologies to minority groups whom he recklessly pilloried.

Despite the daunting challenges, how did the curator of the Apprentice manage to pull this off?

Firstly, the wily businessman turned emergency politician capitalised on the success of Brexit in the United Kingdom to whip up sentiments among the Whites. Brexit was simply an attempt by the angry white Brits to reclaim their country. They were bewildered that they were losing their homeland to foreigners who had imported strange cultures. The medical services and I.T is controlled by the Indians. Their national sport – Football had more foreign owners, Foreigners especially from the Middle East owned prized real estate, Asylum seekers and their offspring were benefitting from free education and healthcare. Their citizens were forced to compete fiercely for jobs and there was the need to ‘take back their country from these aliens’. Trump simply used massively spread this anti-immigrant sentiment to Uncle Sam. He screamed that Nigerians should be yanked off since they were taking the jobs of Americans. The CEO’s of Microsoft, Google and Pepsi are all Indians with foreigners holding commanding heights in the economy. He told his fellow white supremacists that their position was greatly endangered as power was swiftly slipping from their grip. He played to the emotions of the angry working class whites and asked them ‘For how long would they have to endure eight years of a black man? The possibility of eight years of an LGBTIQ person, and then maybe an animal if animal rights are elevated to that of human? They needed to take back their country.

Secondly, Trump did his homework and was surreptitiously building a powerbase that he clearly appealed to. Shortly before the Michigan primary, he threatened the Ford Motor Company that if they closed down their operations and moved it to Mexico, he would slam a 35% tariff on any car shipped from Mexico.He threatened Apple with large fines if they didn’t bring their Iphone factory from China to America. This message reverberated from Green bay to Pittsburgh and resonated greatly with the forgotten and embittered whites who felt abandoned by the policies of the Democrats. Trump deftly sold himself as their evangelist.

Thirdly, Hillary Clinton could simply not be trusted. Discerning voters saw through the clear media bias especially by CNN. The email scandal and wikileaks revelations portrayed her as a money grabbing and power hungry opportunist who just wanted power for its mere sake. The paid speeches by Goldman Sachs and the bungling of Benghazi only worsened her perception as an establishment politician whom the Trump brand wanted to get rid of.

Fourthly, this election had the largest turnout since 1980 and it is clear that Trump’s message resonated with the real owners of the supposed ‘land for all ‘ – the whites as Trump proved that their trust was all he needed. Clinton got more votes among the Blacks and Latinos but wasn’t enough to cause any change.

Fifthly, Trump turned the joke on Clinton by making her seem helpless as she sought refuge in the arms of Beyonce and Jay-Z while he stuck to his strategy of organising raucous mass rallies and spewing out venom and connecting with the real stakeholders.

We await with bated breath of what he has in store for Africa with regards to his foreign policy but one thing is clear – the world is moving towards isolationism as anti-immigration sentiments is rapidly spreading. Germany is now regretting their open door policy with regards to the Syrian refugees as their borders are being tightened and a plea for other European nations to share the refugees. The bombings in France has made them have a critical rethink of their generosity. America under Trump is definitely going to be less immigration friendly. It may even extend to rescinding the policy of automatic citizenship on being born on American soil. The UK and Republic of Ireland rescinded it so it won’t be amazing if Uncle Sam follows suit.

While we congratulate Trump for making a mockery of the establishment, it is high time African nations looked inwards and develop survival strategies to survive this impending ‘Everyman for himself and God for all.

A Trump presidency could scupper some of Barack Obama's signature achievements, including Obamacare, climate change policy and the nuclear deal with Iran. Democratic hopes of shaping the Supreme Court for a generation would be dashed; a markedly more conservative court is now likely. Foreign policy could also undergo a dramatic shift.

Many analysts caution that there is a big difference between campaign promises and official policy — trade renegotiations sometimes turn out to be less substantive than advertised. Commitments on foreign policy issues, such as moving the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, are sometimes set aside.

But here are seven ways in which life could change under a President Donald Trump. 1. Trade

Mr Trump has opposed the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership deal and called for fundamental changes to the Nafta pact with Mexico and Canada. Such policies appear to have boosted his appeal throughout the rust belt of the Midwest, with huge consequences for the election's ultimate outcome. He has also threatened to impose punitive 45 per cent tariffs on goods from China, stoking fears of a trade war. 2. Foreign policy

Mr Trump has said that Mr Obama's deal with Iran, which seeks to prevent the Islamic Republic from attaining nuclear weapons, would be dismantled or at least restructured. While Mr Obama began his term by setting out a vision of a world without nuclear weapons, Mr Trump has said he would be open to both Japan and South Korea developing nuclear arsenals. He has also questioned the US's treaty commitments to Nato allies that do not pay their own way while suggesting a much closer relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. 3. Healthcare

Mr Trump has signed up to the Republican pledge that Mr Obama's signature Obamacare reforms must be “released and replaced”. He has not set out a comprehensive alternative but says he will encourage competition between markets in different states. 4. Tax policy

Mr Trump has promised the biggest tax revolution since Ronald Reagan, pledging to cut taxes across the board. He says no American business would pay more than 15 per cent of their profits in tax, compared with a current maximum of 35 per cent. The top rate of tax would fall from 39.6 per cent as the Republican reduces the number of tax brackets. 5. Supreme Court

For many political activists in the US this could be the biggest consequence of the election. With the highest court in the land currently split 4-4 between conservative and more liberal judges, Hillary Clinton's supporters had hoped that a ninth justice chosen by a Democratic president would shift the balance, possibly for a generation. Instead, Mr Trump faces relatively easy confirmation of his pick by a Republican Senate and he may also have the opportunity to replace some of the relatively elderly complement of liberal judges. 6. Climate change

Mr Trump has called global warming a hoax invented by China to make US manufacturers uncompetitive and vowed to “cancel” the Paris climate agreement, which built on a deal Mr Obama struck with China. He also says he would stop all US payments for UN global warming programmes. 7. Immigration

This is the issue that excited most passions in the campaign, both among Mr Trump's supporters and among Hispanic voters eager to prevent him from taking the White House. Mrs Clinton and departing Mr Obama had backed comprehensive reforms that would give illegal immigrants a chance at full citizenship. Mr Trump has campaigned on his pledge to build a wall on the Mexican border, called for a ban on Muslim immigration and the deportation of 11m unauthorised immigrants. However, he has subsequently made more ambiguous statements, promising instead “extreme vetting” and declining to clarify his precise plans for undocumented immigrants. 

US election: How Hilary Clinton lost

Hillary Clinton just couldn't hold onto the Obama coalition. And that proved to be a large part of her undoing.

African-American, Latino and younger voters failed to show up at the polls in sufficient numbers Tuesday to propel Clinton into the White House.

Clinton conceded the race after 2 a.m. ET. Before polls closed her campaign had been confident of victory. In the end, however, she lost even some states thought to be safely in her column, like Wisconsin. She trailed in others, like Pennsylvania and Michigan.

While she won the key demographic groups her campaign targeted, she underperformed President Obama across the board, even among women, according to exit poll data.

A slightly larger share of black and Latino voters cast ballots for Trump than supported Mitt Romney in 2012, despite Trump's disparaging remarks on African-Americans, Mexicans and undocumented immigrants.

President Barack Obama, who captured the presidency with the help of the African-American and Latino communities, issued several personal pleas to black voters to back Clinton in recent weeks.

“If we let this thing slip and I've got a situation where my last two months in office are preparing for a transition to Donald Trump, whose staff people have said that their primary agenda is to have him in the first couple of weeks sitting in the Oval Office and reverse every single thing that we've done,” Obama said last week during an interview on a syndicated radio program.

But not enough African-Americans, along with Latinos, heeded the call.

Some 88% of African-American voters supported Clinton, versus 8% for Donald Trump, as of very early Wednesday morning. While that's a large margin, it's not as big as Obama's victory over Mitt Romney in 2012. Obama locked up 93% of the black vote to Romney's 7%.

Some 12% of the electorate was African-American this year, compared to 13% four years ago. That's a key drop, especially when paired with a smaller-than-expected growth in Latino votes.

This lowered turnout happened even after Trump repeatedly made sweeping comments about how black communities were in the worst shape ever. Referring multiple times to “inner cities,” Trump said black people live in poverty, have no jobs and get shot walking down the street. “What do you have to lose?” he asked.

Clinton's support among Latinos was even more tenuous, despite Trump pledging to build a wall on the Mexican border, accusing undocumented immigrants of being criminal aliens and promising to deport them.

Only 65% of Latinos backed her, while 29% cast their votes for Trump. In 2012, Obama won 71% of the Hispanic vote and Romney secured 27%.

Hispanics inched up to 11% of the electorate, up from 10% in 2012.

Beyond the Obama coalition, Clinton was also not as popular with white voters as Obama was. She won only 37% of the white vote, compared to Obama's 39%. Surprisingly, Trump also garnered a slightly smaller share than Romney, capturing 58% of the vote to Romney's 59%.

White voters made up 70% of the electorate this year, down from 72% four years ago.

Asian voters, which made up a tiny 4% of the electorate, were also less supportive of Clinton than of Obama. Some 65% of Asian voters cast ballots for her, as opposed to 73% for Obama in 2012.

Clinton also failed to capture as many young voters, who flocked to her rival Bernie Sanders in the primary and to Obama four years ago.

She won 55% of voters age 18 to 29, compared to 37% who cast ballots for Trump. But Obama secured 60% of these young voters to Romney's 37%.

The actress in an interview with Vanguard disclosed that actors are being called up for various movie roles but they are not well taken care of all because they have been paid some amount of money.

She disclosed that she has been opportune to feature in an Hollywood movie where she saw how actors were taken care of that when anyone complains of any funny body activities, they are allowed to get treatment to be fit before they return to set.

According to her, “We are not well catered for. I have been opportune to do one or two short movies in Hollywood. M and one other guy were the only Nigerians in the film. Over there, we were pampered; I must confess. If you complain of headache, you will be allowed to the green room. But here in Nigeria, even if you are dying, you must go on because you have been given a certain amount of money.”

Reno Omokri Mocks Prophet T.B Joshua, Warns Prof. Wole Soyinka About Green Card

According to the actor, the lady who was looking forward to kissing him in the movie was disappointed when he told the director he wouldn't be doing the kissing scene but rather play the lover boy role without kissing.

The said lady allegedly got pissed and flared up, and was yelling and protesting on him not been fair to have cut off the kissing scene. Can you relate to the lady's disappointment? LOL

In his words: 'I know lots of actresses look forward to kissing me on set. This particular one, saw the script and was jumping that she was going to kiss 'Yul Edochie', but I was tired of the kissing thing and asked the director to allow me do it without the 'kissing'. When the actress heard it, she was like 'I have kissed so….so and so person', but won't do the same to her. She flared up. It was quite funny and annoying too. I have never looked forward to going to kiss someone in a film. It is not professional. Those who undergo the real training as an actor can't sit at home and keep looking forward to kissing in movies.'

A man called Mr. Okoro who visited his friend from the village, went in to his friend's house with his dirty shoes. His friend didn't mind instead he entertained him with a delicious meal (hot soup and fufu). When Mr. okoro was about to leave, his friend advice him to avoid entering someone's home with his shoes on. Mr. okoro said, "yes sir" and went away. On his way going, the memory of the delicious meal he had in his friend's home kept running through his head. He stopped a bus, pulled off his shoes and went inside leaving it behind. By when he got to realized that he was the only one without shoes or slippers, was when the bus arrived at the place he was to drop. Suddenly, he started shouting, "my shoe oh! Who has stolen my shoe?".

Peter Obi,Others Mourn As Senator Annie, Donatus Okonkwo Buries Sister In Anambra.

It was indeed a sad ceremony for the family of Okonkwo and Chukwuanu as they bury their mother and sister late Mrs Cord‎elia Chiwendu Chukwuanu, ‎ known from her formative years as Ada Papa Uwa‎.

The burial ceremony attracted the high and mighty in the corridors state influence‎ and power. From the funeral service and interment held in her home to the final reception as Senator Annie Okonkwo residence in Ojoto. The former Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Peter Obi, Ide of Ojoto, noble dignitries, traditional rulers amongst others put up appearance to sympathise with the bereved family.

53 years Nne Okonkwo, who died after a brief illness was more like an iroko of morals to the family and a mother hen to the brothers and siblings. Chief Prince Donatus Okonkwo expressed pain and regrets over the sister death as he was seen dejectedly responding to brief interview with some reporters at grand burial ceremony.

In truth, Ojoto town experienced an unprecedented convergence of church members, mother\'s, elders, youths and cross sections of Ojoto age grade association. It was better described as a grand burial ceremony to a worthy icon, no wonder she was referred as Ada Papa Uwa, from her growing up years. Adieu Mama, Rest in Peace.

Uber's booming business in Lagos, Nigeria, has hit a major speed bump.

The local government has begun cracking down on Uber drivers, requiring them to pay huge sums to register for special taxi licenses.

Drivers of the ride-hailing app in Lagos are being told they must pay a minimum of 100,000 naira ($320) per car to the local government for a franchise license.

That's a massive sum when you consider that $320 surpasses the average monthly salary for an office worker in Nigeria. The minimum wage in the country is only about $60 a month.

Annual renewal fees cost at least 30,000 naira ($95) per car.

Any unregistered taxi drivers caught without a license can be fined 50,000 naira ($160).

Anofiu Elegushi, a spokesman at the Lagos Ministry of Transportation, said these government taxi regulations had previously been in place, but rarely enforced.

"It is for the safety and security of our state and ... passengers," Elegushi told CNNMoney. "We have started clamping down on the vehicles that operate under the Uber app without registration."

Drivers must also have adequate insurance and up-to-date safety devices installed in their vehicles, he added. And they must come together in groups -- called franchises -- to register for licenses.

Uber told CNNMoney in an emailed statement that it's "actively working with regulators" on this issue.

The ride-sharing app has seen significant growth in Lagos in recent months. Lagos is the financial capital of the country and boasts an estimated 18 million residents. Uber said Nigerians have taken more than a million trips since it launched 16 months ago.

The regulatory move and license fees are expected to significantly dampen driver enthusiasm for the Uber service.

Elegushi said Uber is working with the authorities to try to arrange licensing for drivers. He estimates the firm owes the Lagos government 600 million Naira ($1.9 million) in penalties for not having properly registered its business.

Uber was not immediately available to provide further details about its work with the Lagos authorities.

Miss Anambra is not on exile, counsel to troubled beauty queen says
The lawyer of troubled beauty queen Chidinma Okeke has refuted claims that the 19-year-old student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, who is in the eye of the storm following controversy trailing a lesbian sex tape involving her, has left the country on exile. Information reveals that speculations about the whereabouts of Chidinma who was declared the winner of Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant 2015 organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service but was stripped off her crown unceremoniously, started when family members of the beauty queen raised an alarm over the whereabouts of their daughter. But Barrister Ikenna Obidiegwu, counsel to Chidinma in a statement said his client has not exiled the country.

“I have said it severally that my client, Chidinma is in Nigeria. She is in Awka. We shall address a press conference this week to say everything about this issue.” He added.

Recall earlier that an initial press conference which was scheduled to hold at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre, Awka, was abruptly called off when news filtered into the venue of the press gathering that some gunmen were coming to disrupt it.

Chidinma was said to have sworn to expose “the powerful cabal” behind her ordeal in the sordid video, but her lawyer later said that she could no longer address the press because “her life had been threatened.”

Chidinma who at first denied being the one in the controversial video, later confessed she is the one when more explicit versions of the video was put online, while she also claims that she is being hounded by a group of people she described as ‘traducers’.
